OVERVIEW:
Oral Medicine is a speciality of dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis and medical management of complex diagnostic and medical disorders affecting the mouth and jaw. It lies at the interface between medicine & dentistry. An Oral Medicine specialist is a “Physician of the mouth”. The speciality manages oral mucosal diseases, salivary gland diseases. Oral cancer screening, tobacco cessation initiatives and management of disease using intralesional injections are some aspects of the professional training programme. Oral Radiology is an integral part of Oral Medicine.
Department:
The Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology is well equipped with dedicated & professionally oriented faculties with rich experiences in the field. The most advanced state of art facilities are available in the department for a rich professional experience. The rich OPD of varied clinical cases provide excellent clinical material for the students. Students get a first-hand knowledge on managing various complex conditions. TENS therapy, laser therapy, electrocautery, RVG, digital IOPA, digital OPG & lateral cephalometry aid in diagnosis & treatment planning.
The radiology department work in unison with other specialities Faculties and students of various other departments discuss and share knowledge with CBCT imaging and other advanced digital imaging modalities. Expert opinion is provided on CBCT images of patients for the benefit of treatment planning & patient management.
The i-CAT 17-19 CBCT machine is a boon in disguise to enrich the professional skills. This is the most advanced and expensive CBCT machine available to date in the field. The students gain a multidisciplinary approach hand and exercise their expertise in handling pathologically involved cases, identifying endodontic canals, periodontal research, aiding in implant planning, airway space analysis, orthodontic research studies etc.
The students get a confluence professionalism, technique and ethics under one roof and develop an Humanitarian and service oriented outlook.
Academics are well planned and a strong backbone of knowledge with wonderfully stocked collection of books, journals, study material, e books, e journals, previously done research work and publications in the library add to the glamour of the department.

UNDERGRADUATE CURRICULUM:
Under Graduate Training(UG) programme involves chairside demonstrations, discussions, video and classroom teaching with advanced teaching aids, periodic assessments and constant self-improvement.
POSTGRADUATE CURRICULUM:
Postgraduate (PG) curriculum is well structured. Research scholars enrich knowledge with in General Medicine, General Surgery, Dermatology, ENT, Radiology unit of prestigious Hospitals. They present research papers in National & International Speciality Conference, Departmental seminars, journal club presentations, case discussions, interdepartmental seminars, clinicopathological meet etc. The department has won many laurels at National level in consistence with hard work & perseverance of faculties, managements & students.
